When does CVS restock?

CVS restocks throughout the week; no single day stands out. A product that goes out of stock at CVS is typically back within 14 days; 33% are back within a week.

This page answers one question for CVS: when products that go out of stock come back. It is CVS’ slice of The Retail Availability Gap, StoreLocators’ study of retailer-reported availability across U.S. retail. “Restock” means the CVS website reported the item back in stock for that store; the day is the first day it was reported back, so it can run up to a day late.

At CVS, an item reported out of stock for more than 14 days gets fewer readings, so shares at 30 days are understated and long out-of-stocks are undercounted.

CVS restocks throughout the week. No single day stands out: every day of the week accounts for between 13.4% and 15.7% of restocks, against 14.3% for an even spread.

How long do products stay out of stock at CVS?

Half of the products that go out of stock at CVS are back within 14 days; 33% are back within a week and 74% within 30 days. 26% were still out after 30 days.

What "available" means at CVS

The CVS website reports whether each store has an item in stock. "Back in stock" here means the site reported the store had it again.

In the study's terms this is a store stock feed. Readings for a specific store were recorded daily at most chains; no shelf was audited.
